Crosses (Prints)

£20.00 - £60.00

This self-portrait explores faith, identity, and the scars of control. Painted on recycled wood, the surface carries history and survival, echoing the theme of reclamation. Eyes stare out through a lattice of black crosses, symbols of religion and brainwashing, repeated until individuality is almost erased. A vivid orange halo recalls traditional sanctity but here radiates unease, forcing illumination rather than offering comfort. Heavy strokes of blue and black obscure the face, suggesting suffocation, pain, and imposed belief. Yet the gaze resists — fragile, enduring, human. The work questions how systems of faith and power can shape, scar, and silence, while also affirming the persistence of self.
